Matcha Ice Cream
I love how matcha ice cream is not overly sweet; it’s more earthy, herbal, and creamy than sweet. And unlike some super sugary syrups that can mask flavors, honey as a topping compliments the rich muskiness of the tea, making for a beautiful, elegant, and perfectly balanced desert.

Lemon Meringue Tart
This is the perfect Lemon Meringue Tart! The crust is buttery and sweet enough to balance the tart lemon curd. The lemon filling is rich, tangy, and thick enough to hold its shape in a slice. And finally the meringue is beautifully fluffy, light, and delicately sweet.

Sourdough Cinnamon Buns
These buns are not the cloyingly sweet, over the top, mall kiosk variety of a cinnamon roll. This dough is tender, buttery, and, thanks to the sourdough fermentation, beautifully complex in comparison to your run of the mill cinnamon buns. The icing is rich, and the cinnamon filling is a sweet, spiced heaven. Really! These buns can’t be beat.

The Ultimate Cheesecake Brownies
What could be more decadent than rich, gooey, chocolatey brownies swirled with sweet, creamy cheesecake filling? Nothing. There is definitely nothing more decadent or more crave-worthy than these cheesecake brownies.

Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
This recipe is based on one from my Grandma, and in my opinion it’s the perfect banana bread: just the correct amount of banana flavor, tender crumb, beautiful sheen, and a lacing of chocolate gems. Plus the simplicity of the recipe makes it easy to remember and easy to execute: perfect for baking with kids.

Grilled Kebabs with Yogurt and Cucumber Dill Relish
These kebabs have a wonderful variety of spices and flavors that remind me of my Eastern European heritage. And while it’s as delicious as the meals we used to order regularly from our favorite D.C. shops, I love that I can make it at home, in Colorado, quickly and easily.

Overnight Oats
Oats are loaded with nutrition, they’re a great crop for the environment compared to other grains, they’re inexpensive, and when paired with honey, and yogurt, overnight oats have tons of nutrients, probiotics, and prebiotics. Plus they’re just plain delicious and so, so cute in little glass jars!

Strawberry Sour Cream Muffins
These strawberry sour cream muffins have a beautiful tender crumb, juicy bursts of ruby strawberry, and a sweet, buttery streusel topping. What more could you want on a spring morning?

Carrot Cake
I do love this cake. It’s simple to put together, rich with cream cheese frosting, moist with carrots and raisins, and loaded with warming cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. This is a pretty traditional version of carrot cake, but that doesn’t make it any less spectacular or any less loved by my family.

Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream
Herbal and refreshing, mint ice cream feels at home in Spring. And the green color just adds to the sense of awakening, renewal, and vibrance we want right now.

Mom’s Famous Green Cake
This lovely bundt cake slices open to reveal a moist, green, and nutty crumb surprise that pairs beautifully with freshly whipped cream and ripe berries.

Perfect Pancakes
There’s something so appealing about giving into nostalgia and celebrating morning with a big stack of fluffy pancakes topped with berries and copious amounts of maple syrup.

Pumpkin and Black Bean Chili Negra
This time of year I make a lot of chili, and lately this recipe has risen to the top of my family’s list as the ultimate crowd pleaser. What I love about this recipe is its unique use of sage, pumpkin, and dark Negra Modelo beer to achieve a rich, earthy complexity in balance with the classic chili flavors of spice and heat.

Sweet Corn Muffins
These muffins are the perfect anytime food. The sweet cornmeal crumb is filled with juicy bursts of fresh corn and topped with a rich, buttery crumble. We enjoy them on their own as a snack, for breakfast, or as the ideal foil for a bowl of hot, spicy chili.

Brown Butter Chocolate Chunk Cookies
This is my absolute favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. Brown butter results in a beautifully rich crumb and the most amazing caramel aroma. Using two different types of chocolate gives a great distribution of melty cocoa to crumb and makes those irresistible chocolatey pools! Add a sprinkle of flaky sea salt, and voila! The best chocolate chip cookies!

Sourdough Sandwich Bread
This is the ultimate sourdough sandwich bread! Beautifully soft inside and out, the crumb is light, fluffy, and perfect for holding sandwich fillings. The bread’s flavor is complex and savory even without enrichment from butter, milk, honey, or egg. The best part is that the dough is entirely naturally leavened, making this sandwich bread one of the most digestible and nutritious out there.

Chicken and Black Bean Skillet Dinner
This may be my husband’s favorite dinner. It is packed with protein, nutritious vegetables, and tons of flavor. Plus it’s fast to prepare and such a fun meal to eat with all its beautiful components and colors. A far cry better than a Chipotle burrito bowl, this skillet dinner feeds a crowd cheaply and happily.

Braised Chicken Thighs in Zesty Tomato Sauce
Not only is this a fast weeknight meal to prepare, but the flavors in this dish are just killer. The chicken alone is so tender and juicy, but when smothered in crispy broiled mozzarella and braised in a rich herb and citrus infused tomato sauce, it’s hard to imagine anything more delicious or comforting.

Green Juice
Packed with vibrant greens, fresh lemon, bananas, mangoes, and more vitamins and nutrients than I can count, not only is this a tremendously healthy little drink, but it’s also so delicious that you’ll actually want to make it a part of your daily routine.

Sausage Orzo Soup
Golden seared sausage, tender orzo, rich tomato and herb infused broth, and a smattering of savory vegetables make this soup an absolute family favorite. Topped with grated parmesan cheese and a squeeze of fresh lemon juice, there’s really nothing more nourishing, or comforting, than hearty Sausage and Orzo soup on cold, January night.
