Overnight Oats

I have found that if you put anything in a cute little jar, kids will love it and want to eat it. I love mini Weck jars for this. Cut up veggies, green juice, and especially overnight oats, are all infinitely more delicious when packaged in sweet little Weck jars. Plus, individual jars make my life as a mom so much easier. I can cut all the veggies at once, or mix all the oats in advance, and have a perfect little meal or snack ready whenever my kids need it. Even adults like the experience of eating out of glass jars!

And in case you or your kids aren’t huge oat fans, I’m here to convert you. Oats are loaded with nutrition, they’re a great crop for the environment compared to other grains, they’re inexpensive, and when paired with honey, and yogurt, overnight oats have tons of nutrients, probiotics, and prebiotics. Plus they’re just plain delicious.

The other thing I love about overnight oats is that they are super easy to make and, therefore, the perfect recipe to make with kids. All young ones have to do is measure, pour, and stir. Three easy steps and they have succeeded at making their own nutritious meal for the next morning!

Plus overnight oats are extremely versatile. You can top them with nuts, chocolate chips, coconut flakes, peanut butter, cinnamon, or any variety of fresh fruits. The possibilities are pretty much endless, and yet the labor remains simple and the meal convenient.

A note on portion. I use whole fat yogurt and milk, so these little jars are the perfect size for my kids and me. However, I would double the recipe for my husband or pair the oats with a fresh green juice.
